Tribute Circles

As wisely stated by Dr. Temiloluwa Olufemi, orthopaedic surgeon and educator:  “We should give back to the generation that follows, it is our only path forward.”

The women honored in the Tribute Circles have passed away and are not here to tell their own stories. During their lives, these women truly “gave back” and “gave forward.”   The individuals who volunteered to speak for them are their colleagues, friends and mentees. The speakers were asked to tell stories about the human or personal side of these extraordinary women, beyond their accolades and accomplishments.

The product of each Circle discussion is a more realistic image of an inspirational orthopaedic surgeon, as seen through the eyes and hearts of those they influenced. The women who are honored here live on through the talents, skills and methods of problem solving they shared with those around them.

This section is being constructed over time with some urgency as friends, colleagues and mentees of our foremothers are becoming harder to find.  More Circles will be added over the next year with the goal of preserving the memories of the human side of these outstanding women.
